A five-year-old was beaten to death to drive away the evil spirits which the suspects in the murder believed were haunting them.
Allegedly the suspects took the boy near a chapel where and hung him upside down, then beat him and strangled him. It is alleged that they then held the victim underwater while stepping on his chest.
The alleged ritual took place in Pasacao, Camarines Sur.
Faith healers Maria, Joy and Arnulfo Armario have been arrested along with the boy’s grandfather, his aunt who is a minor and another minor.
The faith healers were also accused of stealing from a Jaime Bongay with whom they had been staying.
The Rita Ortogo the victim’s grandmother had asked her 12-year-old adopted son, to babysit the victim while she sold charcoal in a neighbouring village.
The two underage suspects have been placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The victim’s grandfather and the faith healers will face murder charges.
