It is a different world in some parts of Makati, not just for people but also for pets. If a cat is lucky enough to find a home in Dasmarinas Village, Makati City, it can expect the sort of life cats get in the UK, or at least they could until the cat killer struck.
About 12 community cats have gone missing since in January with some of those brutally killed in exclusive Dasmarinas Village.
According to the village management, “one cat died slowly and painfully” from chemical burns. It alleged that a paint thinner was poured over the animal.
The community cats in the village are fed by residents of the village and have been spayed and neutered through CARA Welfare’s Trap-Neuter-Return program.
The animal rights organization noted that aggravated cruelty to animals carries a penalty of up to P250,000 and three-year imprisonment under the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 as amended by Republic Act 10631.
It encouraged anyone who can provide information leading to the identification and conviction of the violators to call PETA Asia hotline at 0999-888-7382.
