Philippine International Convention Center

The Philippine International Convention Center was designed by Architect Leandro V. Locsin, it took just 23 months to build and opened in time to host the World Bank-International Monetary Fund annual meeting in 1976.

On July 23, 1974 President Ferdinand Marcos signed the Presidential Decree No. 520, the decree gave authorization to the Central Bank of the Philippines acquire a suitable area for that purpose, to construct the Philippine International Convention Center and to manage the conference center.

It was hoped it would make Manila one of the main financial centres of South-east Asia.

Since the Philippine International Convention Center was first opened it has also hosted the annual Awards Night of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences. This is the Philippines version of the Academy Awards.
